Quarantine Life

Now that I've arrived in Bangkok, I'm sure you're wondering what it's like to quarantine in a different country. Quarantine in Thailand looks a lot different than quarantine back home.

Upon entry of the hotel, I was immediately given a Covid test in the nose and throat. After my test, I was sent to my room where I would spend the next 15 days alone.

Food:

Each day, I am sent a menu that I choose my food options for the following day. This is the area that I have struggled with the most. I tried to play it self and order most of the American options before I realized that my standards were too high and American food is not their specialty. I've really tried to branch out and order things I normally wouldn't. I have also learned to accept salads as a breakfast food here.

An example of my meal choices

Outside my door, I have a small table. Each meal, the hotel employee knocks on the door when my food is dropped off. After I finish it, I place the trash in the hallway to be picked up.

Covid Precautions

Twice a day, I'm required to take my temperature with a provided thermometer. I text the hotel nurse my temperature in the morning and evening. I took a Covid test on day 1 and day 5. Once I receive a negative test result after day 7, I am allowed 30 minutes on the rooftop garden for some fresh air. You wear a bracelet to indicate how many Covid tests you have taken to help prevent any infections. I will also complete a final test on Day 13.

After 8 days, we were reunited!

Quarantine is hard. You feel lonely and bored but also so excited to see what the outside world holds. I ask that you pray for strength to finish up the rest of quarantine with a positive mindset. Pray that my last Covid test comes back negative so I can start my new adventure!

Hello Kelly, thanks for keeping us up on your adventures. The food thing would be my biggest challenge too. You will learn new things to like to eat. You are doing what you need to so you can take the next step. Stay Strong, you can do it. You are in my prayers. Love, Terri
