Leaving my Classroom in Good Hands

What a whirlwind the beginning of the school year has been. I was not expecting to return to the classroom in August but with my departure date being delayed, I was able to continue teaching until my departure.
I was not sure how everything was going to work out, but I knew that I had to trust in Him. The original plan was to place a student teacher in my classroom starting in August who would then take over my classroom when I left. Unfortunately, Covid-19 prevented a student teacher from being in my class. Doubt and worry consumed many of my thoughts as I prepared my classroom for the start of school. What was going to happen to my students? Was I making the right decision to return to the classroom?
Peace was something I often prayed about. God placed peace within me, and I knew that everything was going to work out the way He had intended. I was not going to stress about the “what ifs”. I knew I was placed in my classroom this school year for a reason and for a purpose. I soon found out that I would have a long-term sub who would be working along side me until I left. Talk about a huge blessing!
From the moment I was told I could return to my classroom this fall with someone observing, I began praying. I prayed that whoever was placed in my classroom would be a good fit for me, my team, and most importantly, my students. I wasn’t sure who would be in my classroom, but I knew God was going to place the perfect fit into my class.
God not only provided for me and my students, but he also exceeded my expectations. I could not be more at peace about the teacher who will take over my class. Amanda is not only a long-term sub, she is a certified teacher who will begin her first year of teaching this year. Amanda has already been such a blessing to our classroom this school year and I could not think of a better fit for our class. She is compassionate, full of joy, and constantly striving to learn more to become a better teacher. The students will be in great hands when I leave.

My departure date has been officially pushed back to the end of November. I have slowly started gathering all my documents that are needed for my work visa and documents that I will need to take with me. I will apply for my federal background check within the next two weeks and I will be receiving my city/school placement in the month of September. I’m anxiously waiting to see where I will begin my new adventure!
Fingers crossed that my next post will be all the details of where I will be living and teaching! Until then, I ask that you pray that God prepares Amanda to take over my class and that God prepares my heart and mind for this next adventure.
